London’s first and biggest Afrobeats festival, celebrating black culture, music and dance, is back with a bang this summer. The one and only Assistant is announced as a headliner Yam Carnival 2022!
Yam Carnival will be Starboy’s only outdoor London show of the year, and standing together under the stars in the warm August air is the ultimate way to attend Assistant live. The Nigerian mega star is riding high after his ‘Made In Lagos’ album and tour, which saw him sell out three consecutive nights at the O2 in record time. More than asserting his Starboy status in the UK, as well as London’s love of Lagos, the stage is well and truly set for the ultimate Afrobeats party on Saturday August 27.
Right in the middle of the biggest bank holiday weekend of the year, the finest selection of the world’s most exciting names are about to land in south London for one day only, filled with music, dancing, food and culture.
Among the names announced today, the vibrant line-up features the Nigerian sensation Naira Marley throwing the biggest party straight from the main stage, filled with iconic Afrobeats hits like “Soapy”, “Koleyewon” and the Word Cup anthem “Issa Goal” for its legion of Marlians ready to dance all day.
Other creators of fantastic programming success include the sensation Kay who made us dance slow all year round with his banger “Love Nwantiti”, and the “Highlife King” of Africa Flavor performing popular dance tunes such as “Time To Party” and “Berna”. Also joining the poster today is the singer, guitarist, producer and true icon of Congolese style MTV Africa Award. Fally Ipupaas well as rising British-Ghanaian rapper and collaborator Dave Sha Simone.
