ISLAMABAD – A 15-member delegation of professors and scholars from six Turkish universities visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) today.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the AIOU Registrar, Raja Umar Younis and the Director of the Department of International Collaboration and Exchanges, Dr. Zahid Majeed.
A special session was organized with the delegation to discuss the different academic opportunities and locations. The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Irshad Ahmad Arshad chaired the session.
All Senior AIOU Officers were also present.
The Registrar introduced the Senior Officers while Dr. Zahid Majeed gave a detailed briefing on AIOU’s profile and recent initiatives.
He informed that AIOU is already collaborating with three Turkish universities and they are planning to sign MoUs with other universities.
Leading the delegation, Istanbul University Professor Sahabattin Zaim, Dr. Mehmet Bulut said that they should use their resources and abilities together to improve the state of Islamic civilization and culture. so that the future of the Islamic world can be bright.
He added that four countries including Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia and Nigeria have the potential to change the destiny of the Islamic world.
Dr. Waqar Badshah, a professor at Ibn Khaldun University, said Muslim society is going through a difficult time. Universities, especially the intelligentsia, should step forward to play a role in building a reforming society.
The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Irshad Ahmed Arshad, said that the Vice-Chancellor of the Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Zia Ul-Qayyum, has placed particular emphasis on improving the quality of education. ‘education.
Collaborations and exchange programs with Turkish universities would further strengthen the academic ties between the two countries.
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Hassan Raza, the Dean of the Faculty of Arabic, Prof. Mohiuddin Hashmi and Prof. Dr. Samina Awan also expressed their views.
