Tugay Tuncer, Ambassador of Turkey to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), visited the Turkish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai earlier, enjoying the visitor experience and highlighting the trade and investment opportunities that the mega -event will offer.
Speaking to the Expo News Service, Tuncer explained that Turkey’s participation in Expo 2020 means “a new era of cooperation and a strengthening of relations with the
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES”.
Turkey’s Commissioner General, Mukerrem Aksoy, highlighted the strength of the country’s food and agricultural sectors when the world faces food security challenges: âTurkey produces organic food for the whole world.
âAnd we are ready to supply the world. “
Discussing the growing trade between the two nations, the Ambassador said, âOur trade with the UAE is US $ 8.5 billion and the numbers are increasing – in the first six months we have seen a increase of almost 100%, and Expo 2020 will contribute to [this growth].
âIt will show that we can export processed foods, fruits and vegetables and building materials, which this region needs and which Turkey has in abundance.
âOur construction sector is the second in the world.
Expo 2020 is also expected to contribute to Turkey’s tourism sector.
The diplomat, who previously worked as a tour guide, said: âMany people derive their income from tourism, whether they are guides, hotel workers or in the production or processing of food – l he industry has many by-products and sub-industries.
âWe welcome around 30 million tourists a year before Covid-19, through coastal, cultural, health and winter tourism.

Located in the Sustainability District, the Turkish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, under the theme âCreating the Future from the Origin of Civilizationsâ, has been designed to reflect the unique history of Anatolia – the cradle of civilizations, as well as to showcase the nature sustainability goals of the country.
