The Bucks and Montgomery Counties Press League had its annual outing this year in Atlantic City. The members and their wives left Philadelphia at nine a.m. Friday morning. A special car was provided by the Reading Company in Camden and the head office was established at the Elberon Hotel at the corner of Tennessee and Pacific avenues. The hotel is owned and is under the personal management of Dr RB Ludy, former principal of Langhorne Public School. The party was well organized at the hotel and the opinion was that the Elberon was a first class hotel.

Automobile rides, “shopping” piers and theaters, and frequenting cafes were the main entertainment of the League party.

During the working session, the following resolution was unanimously adopted regarding the miserable defamation law.

“It has been decided that the Press League of Bucks and Montgomery Counties cordially endorse the objectives of the Press League of Pennsylvania with its efforts to advance the interests of the publishing profession.

Resolved that the League will respectfully and sincerely request the members of the Senate and House of the above-mentioned counties at the next session of the General Assembly in Harrisburg to make all reasonable efforts to assist in the enactment of a libel law based strictly on common equity so that the full protection of the public and the press in their just rights under the Constitution can be ensured and maintained. “

The return trip was made on Sunday afternoon, leaving Atlantic City at four o’clock.

Representatives of the following publications made up the party:

  • Collegeville Independent
  • Doylestown Intelligence
  • Sellersville Herald
  • Schwenksville article
  • Montgomery transcript
  • News from Bas-Mérion
