Over a thousand registered runners, trotters and walkers took part in the Southern Oregon Runner’s annual Turkey Trot on Thursday at the Jackson County Show, braving temperatures in the low 30s but under generally clear skies on the day of Thanksgiving.

The four events were the fun run for the kids, an 8 mile run, and 5 mile and 2 mile events.

The running group organized a food drive for the Southern Oregon University Food Bank, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the SOR Shoes for Student Runners program, which provides shoes to middle and high school athletes who want to compete in races. cross. country and track, but can not afford proper running shoes.
