Hip-hop artist Charlieonnafriday will perform music from his debut album “Onnafriday”, released in April, at the Maintenance Shop on September 22.

With nearly 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and collaborations with Lil Keed and Kidd G, Charlie Finch has already made a name for himself through his music. He also has upcoming releases with Macklemore, one of his artistic inspirations.

The album’s eight songs add to Finch’s already relevant discography, as he had released 15 singles before that. Her top song, “After Hours,” has over 40 million streams, with the rest of her singles reaching over two million streams.

Along with releasing his debut album this year, he also completed a tour with hip-hop artist Mike Stud, where he was the support act.

The Student Union Board aims to find talent and artists to come on tour, as they can add the state of Iowa as a destination between shows. They have a record of hiring acts before becoming well known, such as Twenty-one Pilots and Coin.

“We haven’t had a hip-hop artist here in a little while,” said Maintenance Shop co-director Calvin Kanz. “We had Jack Harlow here a few years ago before hardly anyone knew him, and now he’s huge. We try to find artists who are on a similar trajectory, and we think Charlieonnafriday might be one of those artists.

Since high school, Finch has been making music that reminds him of the Friday nights of his teenage years in Seattle, where he could go wild at football games. His high-energy beats are meant to uplift listeners and bring them back to those beautiful nights he treasures.

Finch’s music can also be found on Spotify playlists ‘Teen Beats’, ‘Tear Drops’, ‘Pop Rising’ and ‘Varsity Bars’. Spotify has created a playlist based on his work, titled “Charlieonnafriday Radio”.

This all-ages show will start at 8 p.m. and open doors at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are available now for $15 and student tickets, with proof of ID at the door, are $10. These prices will increase by $2 on the day of the show.
